ABSTRACT
Corticosteroids have been regarded as a standart treatment regime in the large vessel vasculitides (LVV) ensuing to ischemic and systemic symptoms. There is a limited number of studies in relation to efficacy of antiinflammatory and immunosuppressive drugs capable of inducing long term remission and giving the clinician a chance to reduce or stop the corticosteroids in LVV. In this review, current treatment regimes that consist of Methotrexate, Azathioprin, Mycophenolate Mofetil, Infliximab and Etanercept are evaluated.
