ABSTRACT
Intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) instillation, a safe and effective treatment option for superficial bladder cancer, is usually well tolerated and it rarely causes side effects. Arthritis is one of the adverse effects of intravesical BCG administration and its prevalance is about 0.5%. It usually recovers completely with discontinuation of the BCG administration. Non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and immunosuppressives are rarely needed for treatment. Herein we report a 50 year old male who has developed reactive arthritis 10 days after the third intravesical BCG instillation. Indomethacin was not enough for remission and sulphasalazine was added to the therapy.
